Within the framework of the Vietnam–Uganda Business Forum 2026, organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in coordination with the Embassy of Uganda in Malaysia, concurrently accredited to Vietnam, MK Group participated in a series of engagements and discussions with Ugandan government agencies, organisations and businesses from August 10–13, 2026. Through these activities, MK Group aims to contribute to expanding opportunities for technology cooperation between businesses from both countries, particularly in digital identity, secure identification technologies, technology transfer and local capacity development.
On August 10, MK Smart welcomed a high-level Ugandan delegation led by Ambassador Betty Bigombe to its secure technology manufacturing facility. Representatives from Ugandan ministries, government agencies, organisations and businesses explored MK Smart’s capabilities in secure identity documents, smart cards, personalization and digital identity technologies. Discussions focused on potential cooperation in national digital identity, integrated border control, technology transfer, local manufacturing and national technology capacity development.

These discussions were further expanded at the Vietnam–Uganda Business Forum 2026 on August 12, jointly organised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Embassy of Uganda in Malaysia, which is concurrently accredited to eight other Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam. At the Forum, MK Group showcased its products and solutions in Digital Trust, digital identity, smart cards and digital technologies, while engaging with Ugandan government agencies, businesses and potential partners to explore opportunities for future cooperation.

During the panel discussion on ICT, energy and minerals, including oil and gas, Ms. Phan Thi Quynh Hoa, Deputy CEO of MK Group, shared the Group’s approach to international cooperation. Rather than focusing solely on technology supply, MK Group aims to build local partnerships, promote technology transfer, develop human resources and progressively strengthen technological self-reliance in partner countries. The Group’s international manufacturing experience, including its presence in Brazil and Ethiopia and operations across more than 20 countries and territories, also attracted interest from Ugandan delegates.

The series of exchanges was further strengthened on August 14, when Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba, Minister for ICT and National Guidance of the Republic of Uganda, visited the MK Smart factory. The delegation took a closer look at MK Smart’s technology ownership, R&D, manufacturing capabilities, quality control processes and international certifications developed throughout its 23-year journey in secure identification technologies.

Building on these discussions, MK Group sees significant potential for Vietnam and Uganda to move beyond conventional technology supply towards a longer-term cooperation model based on technology transfer, local production and capacity building.
By combining Vietnam’s technological expertise with Uganda’s development priorities and local resources, MK Group looks forward to working with government agencies, businesses and partners from both countries to develop practical cooperation programmes in digital identity and trusted digital infrastructure, contributing to a more substantive, long-term and sustainable Vietnam–Uganda technology partnership.
